As part of a our senior capstone project, we were tasked with working with Professor Xiaoyu Tang and the Multiphase Transport research lab to create an experimental platform to study the drop evaporation process with controlled humidity and temperature.

As part of a class project, we seeked to answer 4 research questions on the Youtube dataset to explain certain relationships from the dataset through (1) Data visualization and (2) Data analysis.

What I did

• Integrated a comparator with positive feedback to improve signal detection and reduce noise interference.
• Tuned the circuit for maximum range and performance, addressing interference issues and verifying that all specifications were met.
• Enabled state-changing functionality in response to remote control signals.
• Implemented a relay to control a lamp based on the flip-flop's output, ensuring proper operation within specified requirements.

As part of a class project, we sought to analyze the Boston crime dataset to identify trends and patterns from 2015 to 2024 through (1) Data visualization and (2) Data analysis. Our objectives included examining the distribution of incidents across different districts, the timing of incidents by day, month, and year, and specific types of offenses like harassment and property loss. By addressing data quality issues, managing a large and complex dataset, conducting temporal and geographical analysis, and formulating resource allocation and policy recommendations, we aimed to provide insights that could contribute to proactive crime prevention efforts and improve community safety.

What I did

• Analyzed the Boston crime dataset (2015-2024) to identify trends and patterns across districts, timing of incidents, and specific offenses, aiming to leverage data-driven insights for crime prevention and community safety improvement.
• Inspected and cleaned the dataset, including merging separated data, handling missing values, and converting data formats. Addressed inconsistencies, such as multiple values in the 'SHOOTING' column, and removed unnecessary columns.
• Visualized crime distribution by district, time, and offense type. Identified districts with high crime rates (B2, A1, B3, D4), observed seasonal and monthly trends, and noted shifts in crime patterns pre-, during, and post-COVID-19.
• High crime rates were found in specific districts with seasonal and monthly variations. Recommendations included resource prioritization in high-crime areas, targeted interventions during identified peak times, and exploring the impact of public health measures on crime rates. Future work suggested examining additional datasets to understand the influence of other factors on crime dynamics.

Accurately simulate and analyze the effects of brain stimulation techniques on brain activity and structure through head modeling. FOCI (Focus on cognitive improvement) goal is to develop a digital biomarker for cognitive health. We will do this by detecting cognitive changes in persons with mild cognitive impairment using continuously and passively captured smartphone data.

What I did

• Facilitated user studies from clinical cognitive experiments to define requirements in developing a digital biomarker for cognitive health by detecting changes in person’s mild impairment using captured smartphone data
• Trained in neuroanatomy, reading and restructuring image segmentations of MRI scans resulting in 40% increase in efficient construction of head models and decreasing processing time of 2+ hours per model
• Ran and acquired MRI scans/datasets throughout sessions in ISEC research laboratories to evaluate transcranial direct current stimulations for $3-million-dollar grant research study

• Launched rapidly assembled designs for bi-weekly flight test and aerial systems for upcoming customer demo deadlines.
• Responsible for DFA and DFD of multiple modular servo-activated deployment systems utilizing custom sheet metal, electrical wiring, external connectors, and control line actuation. Improved design based on feedback and analysis post-tests.
• Performed strength, loading, and bending calculations on system structure during flight conditions. Tested prototypes for impact and g-force loading, analyzing shock and deformations.

Their technology revolves around the Alphabot platform which utilizes robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced inventory management software to create a highly efficient and accurate order fulfillment system. They have been acquired by Walmart to continue to provide a means for grocers to profitably support online ordering today while building toward a new, automated-service supermarket format.

Goals and Accomplishments

• Rallied senior engineers to scope, prioritize, and resolve 75+ admin flow issues and fix accessibility reports for 4 teams to be implemented in 15+ sites nationwide (Flown to several domestic sites to oversee rework).
• Conducted A/B test on bale arm design features for 200,000+ products leading to a 70% decrease in failure modes resulting in an increase of 9,000+ monthly customer orders prior to multi-billion-dollar acquisition from Walmart.
• Collaborated with Software and Manufacturing teams in developing a Data Matrix Test Stand and 15+ vinyl wrap designs for 45% increase in consistent detection and RFID acceptance of totes.
• Created product documentation rework for workstation changes based on failure mode analysis from robot testing feedback and managed team of 8+ technicians to launch massive rework saving $100,000+ a month from maintenance delays.
